Why does Firefox crash and/or freeze on sites with videos or youtube?
Firefox crashes/freezes when connecting with sites containing videos or youtube. Have to use Chrome in order to avoid this.

Hi, there is a difference between Crash and Freeze. If Crashing we can get the Crash Reports, If Freezing/hanging then we can not get useful information. So which are you doing please ?

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)

Firefox freezes. Have to use ctl-alt-delete and wait up to 5 min. to get rid of the site with the video or youtube - either that or just turn off the computer. Never have this problem with Chrome.
Thanks.
This could also be due to the new polymer design of Youtube.

I have this same problem. FF with YouTube can consume up to 4.5oo,ooo k of memory in one module. I can close the YouTube, FB, or other video page and it takes forever to empty the memory with the page frozen so I can't even tell if the close [X] function has registered. .
