Thunderbird has Junk controls. You have to turn them on in account settings. The default is to mark it with a Junk icon and leave it in your Inbox. Thunderbird does not use the word Spam or block such messages. Most email providers have spam filters and create spam folders. Log into your account at your providers webmail page and see what options they have there. You can check the Spam folder who!e you are there.
