Why doesn't Firefox 60 support S/MIME? (If it does where is the documentation/settings?))

I got an email in "Outlook/Office 365, OWA) stating "S/MIME isn't currently supported for your browser or platform." I cannot verify this statement because google searches return ancient mozilla links that do not apply. I'm using firefox Quantum 60.1.0esr (64-bit), packaged by redhat on Scientific Linux 6
