ver 6.5.1 passwords listed in manager..but not recognized in sending (not using any cleaner software)
I have thunderbird version 60.5.1 (32 bit) . I use password manager.
In password manager you can see the passwords listed for every account . They are never lost , Cleaned or removed in any way . ( not using any automated cleaner software )
But some times the program asks me again for a password to send; when it is the same password as the password that is currently stored and clearly visible in password manager; and was never removed or lost.
( note was previously using windows live mail and never had this problem using all the same e-mail servers---- so therefore the problem must be with thunderbird)

ok..what i will do is set (outgoing only) 1 account to ---------------none ...password transmitted insecurely 1 account to -------------startTLS-------normal password and i will see which one gives trouble asking me for password (even though all are still remembered in password manager)
3/2/19 UPDATE...all these settings work perfectly. either one has not asked me for more passwords and i now also get "RETURN RECEIPTS"

Earthlink is one of the few providers to require Encrypted password authentication. Do you have that setting? Also, some security/AV programs might interfere with passwords if you have them scanning email folders and connections.

using avast..not scanning outgoing email..using also Malwarebytes but that works only on chrome
Their instructions also suggest (for Outlook) connection security = none, for the outgoing server on port 587, in which case authentication = password, transmitted insecurely.
i have changed my outgoing password from "Encrypted password" to now "NORMAL PASSWORD"
note: the problem is only in sending --not receiving
i will try this setting for a day or so
as you can see in the screen shot attached i can either use "encrypted password " or "Normal password" these are the only ones that work

If you set the connection security to none, then type in port 587, the authentication has a 'password, transmitted insecurely' option.

1 account to -------------startTLS-------normal password
