A blue dot on top right corner indicates that you are using the desktop mode.

To switch back to the mobile site tab Request Mobile Site.

I know that but it used to default to mobile view when I opened the app but now it defaults to desktop view. I know how to switch the view, I need to know how to change what it defaults to.

This only happens on my iPad it works fine on my iPhone

You change it back to Request Mobile Site. It will remain the default setting.

Yes it does but if I clear private data it defaults back to desktop view where it never used to do that before.
