In private browsing window, logged into youtube, switched off autoplay, turned video volume from 100% to 50%, switched video quality from 360p to 720pHD and turned on video captions.

Upon opening a new video in new tab, everything is reseted to defults except autoplay and still logged in.

Does not occur at firefox 56.1, upon updating to firefox 59++ this issue occured and reverted to 56.1. Currently at firefox 68.3esr and having a better experience except this volume resets.

Tried to use about:config with 'privacy' inputted, didn't notice much changes compared from 56.1 vs 68.3esr. Messing with cookie settings didnt work either. No addons are installed. Typed many searches and no avail.

When you are in Private Browsing, no data is saved. That includes anything and everything. Thus, you need to redo the settings.

Is there a reason you need to use Private?

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

Turn off Always Use Private Browsing Mode Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on Cache and Form And Search History and whatever else you want.

But it does save the volume settings at firefox 56.1. What changed upon updating to 59++?

YouTube may want to store this data in local storage and not in a cookie. In PB mode local storage (IndexedDB) doesn't work, so if you need to retain settings then do not use PB mode.

So in firefox 56.1 private browsing, local storage (IndexedDB) does work? This may explain it, thanks.

So no settings can be made to make 68.3esr private browsing to behave like 56.1?
