Discover card will not allow me to access my account using Firefox because it's an "Outdated Browser" I am current on my updates.

I get this message when I try to access my Discover Card account. Obviously, since Firefox updates automatically, I do not have an outdated Browser.

Your account cannot currently be accessed.

Outdated browsers can expose your computer to security risks. To get the best experience on Discover.com, you may need to update your browser to the latest version and try again.

So today I tried to access my Discover account directly through Firefox and it worked. No problem, my information appeared immediately. Still not able to get my Quicken program to interface properly with Discover but that is a whole other can of worms.

My guess is that it was just a case of a computer snit at Discover. Now it's done.

I am still using v43 and did not get that message.

Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websites-say-firefox-outdated-or-incompatible

Could that the website detects that you block content or have disabled features in Firefox that the website wants to use.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows an highlighted shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more details and possibly disable the protection

You can check in the Web Console what content is blocked.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.
