Restoring existing Firefox Bookmarks after IOS upgrade from W7 to W10
I am upgrading my PC from W7 Home Premium to W10 soon. I understand this will result in a complete reimage of the PC and all existing files will have to be restored. I currently use a Seagate external hard drive as a system backup. Can the W7 "backup" Firefox file on the Seagate be used to restore my existing bookmarks to the new W10 Firefox download? If so, how do I do this?

Hi there, Firefox data is stored in a hidden path, so first, please double-check that your backup actually contains those files. Otherwise, there will be nothing to restore.
Normal path on Windows:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
AppData is hidden, so make sure you've set Windows to show you hidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files
Can you find that in your backup? If not, you'll definitely need to make your own copy. This article has more info on profile backups:
Sorry, I should mention that if you really only care about bookmarks, that's simpler. You can create a backup file or export file, and then use the restore or import feature in your new installation. I do recommend creating both a backup and export in case one of them doesn't work correctly:
- Backup (.json file): Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
- Export (.html file): Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
Obviously send these to a safe place. You can attach them to an email to yourself as another backup.
Then later on Win10, try restoring the .json file first:
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
Only if that doesn't work, try the .html file import:
