When trying to play videos within YouTube, I want to use desktop mode instead of mobile but when you select full screen, it doesn't properly fit. in the phone (has a zoomed in look). resolution and speed aren't an issue, but full screen doesn't work in desktop mode.

Hi

Are you able to attach a screenshot so that we can better understand what you are seeing?

Desktop mode is included to help with websites that have not been designed to be responsive to mobile devices.

The best view of video (great choice!) is to use full screen on mobile view.

there's many times i'd like to switch to desktop mode. which used to work fine in the past. also, the option to watch videos in higher resolutions is available and worked for my phone that is not available on mobile mode.

Which makes desktop mode the actual best choice, which worked in the past but as shown, now doesn't properly display in full screen.

is there a setting in about:config that would allow desktop mode to properly full screen videos in YouTube?

Hi

It looks like desktop mode is doing the correct thing - it is displaying a desktop mode page, it is just on a smaller screen.

except it used to full screen and fit a smaller screen. which it currently does not.

Whatever on a tablet or phone, full screen would fit wherever size in desktop mode. But now, full screen currently does not work on mobile. I was able to view videos before using desktop mode and full screen would fit the screen, just like it's supposed to. Now, hitting full screen and it doesn't fit the screen, it goes beyond the borders a bit.

This happens even if you were to put it on a lower resolution in desktop mode.

Ok. So why can't you use a mobile view with full screen video to get a better view?

more options

Recently, a lot of videos recorded in higher resolutions or recorded in 1080p60 are only maxed to 720p on mobile.

Those higher res settings were perfectly fine to play in the past in desktop mode. But now, when hitting full screen, the edges don't match the screen, they go beyond it. It will play at those settings but will no longer fit to screen when you use full screen (in desktop mode).

sad to set there are no answers to something as simple as fixing full screen for videos in desktop mode.

Just have to use YouTube vanced to get all the resolutions available, which only has ad blocking, instead of as simple as clicking full screen and utilizing uBlock origins, Privacy Badger, and HTTPS Everywhere seamlessly.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. If you want to file a bug report or feature request see File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.
