My email is a POP 3 account. When using Thunderbird it indicates at the bottom that it has contacted the server, that there are 110 emails to download, and that it is downloading. However, no new emails will show up. I have checked the email server by accessing it through a web browser and the emails are there. Thunderbird will not download them and post them for me to read. I have done all the compact folders, erase .msf files to rebuild. I have erase and un-installed and re-installed, updated, all that stuff and still nothing. I have use Mozilla Backup and reloaded old settings, erased and reloaded new settings but still nothing. I can use my computer at home and it works fine. This is my work computer that will not download and update my emails. I have use Thunderbird for many years and don't really want to change.

It is because messages have been downloaded from the home PC with pop3 accounts settings. The 2nd machine with pop-up account settings cannot download old emails because there are not on the server except if you allow server to keep a copy, but can download the new ones. This is a main security function for privacy of pop3 accounts. Otherwise you must have imap accounts settings on both machines

No, that is not correct. The account is set up as a POP 3 account and is set to leave messages on the server. I can access the email account on the server using a web browser and can "see" all the messages that Thunderbird is not downloading and displaying ( 119 as of now) in the new message window. At the bottom left of the Thunderbird screen (photo enclosed) Thunderbird says it is accessing the server, then it is download 1 of 119 messages but nothing shows up in the new message window.

Find details on how pop3 accounts work on the internet. You will understand why you cannot download twice the emails despite the fact that you have chosen to keep a copy on the server.

Look, we can swap POP 3 stuff all day but it doesn't fix my problem. My email situation has been working for the better part of 10 years with the same server, same setup, and with Thunderbird. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work on this particular machine. All my other machines, using Thunderbird, the same server and settings work as always. So after this 91 upgrade this particular machine does not. Do you have any ideas or solutions?

have you tried disabling your mail scanning (anti virus) to see if it is the cause? Historically they do not do well on malformed mail and will repeatedly download one or more mails that arrived just before the mal formed one.

Alternatively log in using your browser and empty the trash and spam folders and then try Thunderbird again. Most malformed mail ends up in the server side spam folder.
