Thunderbird has not let me sign into my optonline.net account for several days.
Can not login into my optonline.net account. Thunderbird has not let me sign in for several days. The message was: "Error with account vgimzelb@optonline.net. Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.online.net responded: Service temporarily unavailable." But I was able to use my password to log into my optimum account directly, and saw that until today, my incoming emails have been updated.
Please help me to resolve this issue. I might not get my email, so could you please also send a text message to my phone 201-926-3848. Thank you, VG.

just wondering why you would be connecting to the incoming mail server pop.online.net to send mail.
I think there might be a configuration issue here. Especially as none of the settings published by oponline mention a server called pop.online.net
shows the settings as follows, I have trimmed them a little of excess useless information with regard to Thunderbird;
Server Settings
Use the following server settings to set up most third-party email clients or applications to send or receive Optimum email. IMAP (Inbound)
Incoming mail server: mail.optimum.net Incoming mail port (SSL): 993 (Secure Connection. Recommended if your mail client supports) Incoming mail port: 143 (Not recommended. Legacy mail clients only) POP (Inbound)
Incoming mail server: mail.optimum.net Incoming mail port (SSL): 995 (Secure Connection. Recommended if your mail client supports) Incoming mail port: 110 (Not recommended. Legacy mail clients only) SMTP (Outbound)
Outgoing mail server: mail.optimum.net Outgoing mail port (SSL): 465 (Secure Connection. Recommended if your mail client supports) Outgoing mail port: Port: 587 (Not recommended. Legacy mail clients only)
Username and Password
User Name: The first part of your Optimum email address, without @optimum.net or @optononline.net Password: The password for your particular email address
Outgoing server verification/authentication must be enabled and on.
I'm having the same problem with MY optonline.net account, though my server is mail-hub.optonline.net. This email address is 20 years old and I've used the same server settings all that time. Yesterday they stopped working and I get the "Sending of password did not succeed" message.
I can still get mail on my phone, tablet and webmail, so I'm not sure what the problem is with Thunderbird.
