Start page when launching Private Windows doesn't respect 'new page' settings.
Hello.
I have my Home settings configured for:
Home Page and New Windows: Blank Page New Tabs: Blank Page.
When I launch Firefox in normal mode (non-Private), I get a blank page. Exactly what I configured it for.
When I launch a Private Window, I get a NON-blank page. Rather I get a promotional page for the Mozilla VPN with the banner "Get privacy protections everywhere you browse". This is not a blank page, it is a promotional page for a service I don't care to use. If I press the HOME button I get the blank page but private windows don't start that way.
Is there a way to configure Private Windows to open a blank page as I have it set for?
I checked 'about:config', search for "vpn" and "private" and disable 'promo' settings, reset the promo VPN links to "about:blank", hide the 'vpn banner' and so on but nothing gets rid of it.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

You can try to clear the value of this pref (i.e. leave it empty).
- about:config => browser.privatebrowsing.vpnpromourl (blank value)

You would normally get the about:privatebrowsing page when you open a new window while Firefox is running to make you aware you open a new PB mode window.
Are you getting a different window ?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Hi cor-el.
Thank you for mentioning "about:privatebrowsing". Yes, when I launch a private window, that page displays. But I'm configured for a blank page like so.

and Private windows launch as so.

I was hoping to get rid of the promotional Mozilla VPN material and just have a blank page like non-Private windows launch.
Thank you. I appreciate your time.

cor-el. Apparently pressing "Helpful" before pressing "Post Reply" after one has written one's reply looses that reply. My apologies if duplicate messages came through. Thank you for your time and consideration. I appreciate it. The promotion has disappeared which is my point. I am unsure why Firefox thinks the home page settings between Private and Normal browsing need be different but that's just the way things go. Thank you!
