As I understand it, it would be so that it can still act on notifications and receive links. You can change this by removing the permission to background data in the Android Settings app.

Hi If I close it, I wish it wasn't running in the background at all. The application should not start by itself. I have notifications turned off, battery optimization to kill the process. Despite everything firefox starts after some time ..

Id sign right out and restart the pc...happened to me yesterday
