Cannot Connect to NAS via Firefox
Hello Firefox - I connect to my NAS via Firefox, after a recent NAS update I've been experiencing issues with connecting to my machine. Touching on all abases before panic, is this an issue you can prescribe a visit to settings which may resolve the problem? This is the error message - Unable to connect An error occurred during a connection to 192.XXX.X.XX. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Hey Donthaveacow - kind of an appropriate username for a support page. At any rate, thanks for responding to my SOS. I can see the NAS, all drives, and could access the files via Windows Explorer. Yes, I'm connected to the router, and no I can not see the NAS in any of the other browser. The IP is correct. Walt

By the way, it's good talking with you, very informative.
Strange; security issues with my cable/modem router? My NAS has been working successfully since late 2021; there were no issues.
I received an alert from the NAS vendor requesting that end-users make a port change from the default –for security reasons- to some other port number. Could this may be the culprit?
This port change may have affected the NAS's ability to be accessed via web browsers. It may need to be reflected in the Cable/Modem Router. I may not be able to make the change; the cable company may be the option for such a fix. I'm not able to access the NAS to change it back.
Additionally, the recent NAS update may have aggravated the problem by causing a denial of access to the NAS via the browsers, though I doubt it. If I opt for a new cable/modem router, the port change on the NAS will not disappear, and I'd face the same issue, just a different gateway.
Good talking with you have a super day
I've had the same issue in the past. I have a DNS entry for the local NAS device in my "hosts" file but the NAS people have said I should always reference the NAS device using the IP address...go figure. I haven't and am able to connect but every time I restart my Windows 10 machine (I have to do it ever three or four days) the first time I open Firefox it takes about 2-3 minutes before I get my main page. After that Firefox connects normally. This is probably caused by my profile residing on the NAS drive. But I can't figure this out and have to just accept this bizarre behavior and move on. I have to keep the profile on the NAS drive because it gets backed up every evening.
So, I'm thinking connectivity has to do with the NAS drive, as someone already pointed out.
