I get my Internet service through Xfinity but the account is in my wife's name & email. How does this affect the email/password I use when I set up a account? I have tried every combination I can think of and cannot get logged into TB! Very frustrating. Wouldn't it be easier to set up a TB User and PW and forget about the email provider? Seems to cause a lot of problems. Thanks!

The actual email account must be set up with your email provider. Unless your wife's account allows more than one email account, you will need to set up a separate account with the provider. Thunderbird, as an email client, is designed to let your manage the account effectively.
