I search on the term "activation" it thunderbird returns all kinds of variations:

  • "Activity"
  • "active"

See the screen shot. That is not what I wanted. Its returning too many results. Whats the point of having a search where I end up having to page thru all these results? How do I turn off this undesirable misguided feature?

Enclose the term in quotes. "Activation" to make it explicitly that word not derivatives. Works the same way in Google search as well. Except they refer to it as "Must include"

I'm constantly having the same problem and enclosing the term in quotes doesn't change anything. This is really annoying because most of the time I'm getting so many search results that I'm unable to find the message in question.
