Thunderbird stopped connecting to our Gmail account. All authentication configs incl. Oauth2 are unchanged. Nonetheless, first SMTP stopped working and get time outs, now IMAP is dead too. What is going on? We can't get it back to work. We switched VPN (NordVPN) and Antivirus (Norton) off, no change.

Run Windows in safe mode to bypass Norton and the VPN at startup. If you keep Norton in Windows normal mode, you'll have to disable its scanning of the TB profile and also scanning of secure connections. Things would be a lot simpler if you replaced Norton with Windows Security.
