Now, you can make bookmarks by either

  • clicking Bookmarks - Add a bookmark, whereafter you have to pick a location for the bookmark, or
  • you can rightclick a bookmark (on the Bookmark Toolbar or in the Bookmark dropdown) and select Add Bookmark, whereafter you can fill in the boxes for address and page name, but at least the location will already be selected

The latter rightclick should bring up a box that was already filled with the address and name of the current page instead of being blank.

That is the intended action for creating a new bookmark upon right-clicking an existing bookmark; it's not supposed to be the same as using "Bookmark this page" or {Ctrl + D}.

Perhaps it was the intention, but it would still be smarter if it filled the boxes with the current page. I don't know if you use the Bookmark Toolbar, but that's where I put all my bookmarks, I even have subfolders on my Bookmark Toolbar. When I want to make a bookmark, I have to use the "Bookmark this Page" function, and flip through a cumbersome system to find the location I want to put the bookmark, or I can rightclick my Bookmark Toolbar directly where I want it, but then I have to fill in all the boxes. Something the computer easily could have done for me.

There 5 ways to save a new Bookmark in Firefox.
1. {Ctrl + D}
2. Right-click and select Bookmark this Page.
3. Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page
4. Double-click the Star that is on the right side of the Location bar.
4a. (A single-click on the Star will save the new Bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.)
5. Drag the website image in the URL bar into the Sidebar view of Bookmarks {Ctrl + B} or to the Bookmarks menu bar item and then into the drop-down or drag it onto the Bookmarks Toolbar

My suggestion would reduce the number of clicks when bookmarking say, a stock information page to only 4: 1. Click on the Finance folder on my Bookmark Toolbar 2. Rightclick anywhere within the Finance Folder to bring up the context sensitive menu 3. Click New Bookmark 4. Click the Add button.

If I use the Ctrl+D-routine, I need 6 clicks to get the same. 1. Ctrl+ D 2. Click the Show All Bookmark Folders button on the far right 3. Expand the Bookmark Toolbar 4. Scroll down to the Finance Folder 5. Click the Finance Folder 6. Click Done

I have subfolders within subfolders, so some locations are hard to find in my hierarchy, which means using the standard procedure is even harder, when all I should have to do is rightclick the location I want which is already in front of me when I browse.

You can type the first letters of the folder name quickly to go to that folder and repeat that to find the next match if there are more.

Ok, thanks for the help guys, but it's not what I asked for. I know how to create a bookmark. As the title says, I have a suggestion to make bookmarking easier. I am hoping that someone in development reads this. If this is not the right forum for suggestions, please let me know where I can post it.
