Hello, I would like to import 900 backed-up .url bookmarks in 50 or so folders to Firefox 4.0 on a new PC : none of the strategies suggested in the help forums have worked. Not sure if the .url format is a problem : can I/should I convert these links to .html or another format and if so, how? Thanks!

Export your favorites from IE in bookmarks.html format and then import that file into Firefox.

In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file

then in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file
