I cannot open a new tab, either when I click the plus sign or when I click on 'new tab'. This just started today

If there's a link in the tab that I'm in, a new tab opens. But if I simply want to open a new tab, what I have always done is to click on the plus sign. That no longer works. If I click on File and New Tab, that doesn't work either. What's going on?

Un-install the Ask Toolbar. Ask needs to fix their toolbar. Many user have found that un-installing the toolbar returns their Add New Tab function.
