plugin container makes CPU high resulting in cooling fan run all the time. how do I fix this?

Ever since upgrading to the latest version of Firefox, I find the plugin container exe uses lots of CPU which results in the cooling fan to run all the time. When I use IE to visit the same sites, I don't have this problem.
