How come whenever I go to Gmail then go to another website, I'm suddenly logged out of whatever website I just went to?
Example: I get an email from twitter. I go to GMail. Read the email then click the link within the email but then I'm suddenly logged out of the website even if I had just logged in.
This also happens just by going GMail. This problem has been persisting since the beginning of the summer.
This only happens in Firefox.
Resolutions I have tried:
- Enabled cookies for websites
- Checked/Unchecked "Use custom settings for history"
- Deleted cookies, cache, Site Preferences and History
- Checked all plugins and extensions
- Uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox
- Complete system can for Viruses and Malware
- Upgraded and downgraded the Firefox version
- Deleted the cookies.sqlite file and any cookies.sqlite-journal files

Do you have security software (firewall) that can block cookies?
Does it work if you switch on Private Browsing mode?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

It wasn't a firewall wall and changing to private browsing didn't help but creating a new profile did the trick.
Although, the transfer the files link seems to give bad/out-of-date info. The things they suggested didn't work. I was able to import my bookmarks thanks to the XMarks add-on but I have to add my passwords all over again. At least the initial problem is fixed.
Thanks for the solution. Feels good to finally get that taken care of.
