All you can see with most websites is a skeleton consisting only of words and underlines. This includes Wikipedia. Some sites such as the New York Times work OK. This does not happen at all with Internet Explorer.

Thanks. Before I got your answer I ran Iolo System Checkup and it fixed some problems including too little memory and now Firefox runs fine.
