Firefox getting around a router ACL

more options

I am trying to block Facebook on my network. I have a Linksys router (E2000) and have setup an ACL to block the URL. It works fine with IE, but Firefox somehow works around the ACL. Any ideas?

Do you have a proxy set in Firefox? You could check here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced > Network

Click the Settings button and try No Proxy.

Does that make any difference? (I'm not sure whether that takes effect immediately or requires a restart of Firefox.)

In addition to a proxy set through the settings, you might have an add-on that changes your routing, such as TOR. Presumably you would be aware of that...

Sorry, proxy setting is already off and there is no TOR here.

Are both Firefox and IE using the same protocol when accessing Facebook (http / https)?

Does your router log show Firefox using a different port number or a URL that is different in some other way?
