How to stop persistant 'Add on' tabs from opening as well as my homepage when I first loogin into Firefox?
Every time I log on to Firefox 5 Add on tabs also open alongside my home page trying to get me to install/activate them.
I have tried clicking to install them and then restarting Firefox as per the tab instruction. I have been into Add On manager to try to enable, or disable the specific add on. I have cleared the cache, temp files and history etc, but no matter what I do, they come back each time I log on.
What can I do to get rid of the pesky things one way or the other?

Thanks for the info
I have read through your suggestions and nothing there seems to remedy the situation. This morning, again, 5 Install Add On tabs opened as usual. Anyone got any ideas?
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.
OK. Tried all that. Removed the add on .sqlite file also.
I thought all was OK for a moment. Logged off and back in. There they were again. Went into add on manager and the programmes were disabled, so I enabled them - again. logged off, logged in and it seemed OK.
Did a reboot and guess what? Add on Tabs were back again. Looked in Add On manager and they were disabled again. What do you think?
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
Using bitdefender security suite. Have been for more than 2 years now. I don't recall this Add on problem being there before this past 9 months or more.
Seems to be that no matter what I do to install/enable/disable these bloody add on's they don't seem to respond and Its as if I have done nothing. So each time I log on again, they flag up again to be installed/enabled
