Inline gmail images do not work
Steps to reproduce...
1) Using the latest version of firefox on windows7 OR mac 2) Open gmail 3) Using snagit, grab a screenshot 4) Compose a new email 5) Control V/Paste image inline with email 6) Send to self 7) Act frustrated when what you receive is either
a) no image b) A huge pile of characters that are some vestige of the image you were trying to send
Inline images are a HUGE deal for many folks and gmail/chrome handles them just fine. Apparently, Firefox does not. Is this really possible or am I losing my mind or caught in some space/time ripple?
help.

As a work around, you can use the Firefox add-on gMail-Handler

Hello iglue,
Instead of using ( CTRL + c and CTRL+v) for copying and pasting the inline images, better you should try to drag and drop the images in the Compose mail box of Gmail.
I tried to do the same and i found that CTRL+c and CTRL+v simply copy the image location on your computer and not the image to your mail.
So please try to drag and drop the images to your compose mail box or use Insert Photo option present at the bottom of the compose mail box.
Please reply back to us. Thank you.
Thanks ARAMVA097. I did see this suggest in other posts but..
1) Drag and drop from a program like snagit (or other screen grabber apps) doesn't work. These apps are designed to allow the user to copy the image snippet into the clipboard to paste. Right click paste or Control-V both produce the same disappointing results.
2) I did try (just for fun) to drag and drop an image from a website (I used cnn.com) and even that did not work. I get the gmail "drag and drop here" lightbox appear in my draft email but, when I release the image it vanishes. Again, same thing on PC Windows7 or a Mac.

can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once?
Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
If you see code instead of the image then it looks that the image is send or embedded as text/plain and not as an image.
Does it work if you first save the image to a file with the correct file extension and then either attach this image or embed this image instead of pasting the image?
Did that. Doesn't work.
Not sure if that would work but it would not be a valid attempt of replicating a feature that Chrome supports.
I'm starting to get the feeling that this simply does not work in firefox and, that's a little mind boggling/frustrating.
I may need to switch back to Chrome for all email needs and stick with Firefox for everything else (because it's better/faster). Argh.

Nice find qwertz1! Thank you. Just tested this out and it works well. Too bad we need an extension/add-on for this but thank goodness for kickass global developers like Khairul Anshar.
I can't believe this essential gmail function STILL does *not* work in Firefox. I did get the extension, and yes, it works, but my god is that a clunky workaround.
Hello, I see It is not working in firefox without addon to handle it.
But I have added: gmail Handler addon gmail-handler And it allows me to manage-clipboard and drag images from clipboard to gmail email and it works!!
At least is a workaround. I think it could be at least "recommended" by firefox when you are trying to paste an image from clipboard because it never works without any addon.
Regards.
