There is a box in the tool bar on the bottom of the screen marked Address for which there does not seem to be an explanation. What is its use?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Is this a toolbar?

  • Firefox menu button > Options
  • View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the hidden Menu bar)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
