It is gone. In their "wisdom" they decided to remove it.
There is an add-on for it, see https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/.
It is a "complete overhaul" add-on but it does a kind of half/half job IMHO. You get a FF layout that looks a little like previous version and it requires some trail and error to get the lay out you are looking for.
But I just discovered an add on only for the add on bar. Just tried it and it works great, see https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/

Thx for information. Very nice add-on. It was like old times, thanks again Meegja.
i use https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/.
There is not a specific built in addon bar for Firefox29 any longer.
However addons still have spaces for their icons and most will be adapting to work well with Firefox 29.
Please consider carefully the option to downgrade to Firefox 28. It is not something I would personally recommend because outdated software increases risks to your systems and personal data.
Firefox 29 can be made to behave and look much like Firefox 28 see
- How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox
- Find and install add-ons to add features to Firefox
- In particular see the Classic Theme restorer https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
That includes an ADDON BAR
- In particular see the Classic Theme restorer https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
Thx for information John99
I hate it when something works perfectly well, is very useful, and the powers
that be take it away from you,
meegja; thanks for the new add-ons information.
@ FredMcD I totally agree. Maybe this is for you then also, just posted a mini manual for a FF 29 layout that is gives a rather old school FF :) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997039
THANK YOU MEEGJA! i WAS VERY ANNOYED WITHOUT THE ADD ON BAR. THIS TIME FIREFOX INSTALLED THE UPDATE V29 WITHOUT ANALYZING ADD ONS INSTALLED. THANK YOU AGAIN!

Are you saying that you updated from Firefox 28 to Firefox 29 and that some of the addons installed but did not work.
Please could you explain in detail what happened and what did not work. If something went wrong it may help to know what happened.
before v29 update Firefox this time did not analize compatibility of addons. And many addpns did not work. The addon bar dissapeard! But fortunately I foun the solution and now have the addon bar working fine.
Thanks for suggesting addons ClassicThemeRestorer and TheAddonBar. But before the addon bar removal, there was the status bar removal since Firefox 4+. I was using Status4Evar addon, where you can see page status and addons at the bottom of a webpage. Firefox 29 broke the addon, hopefully there is a new version released, currently being reviewed, so I'm sharing this addon with you: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/ (if you are experiencing problems with the download button, share your problems and solutions like me here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=13518221#p13518221)
The addon bar version 4 solves half of the problem. The addon that solves completely the addon bar issue is The Addon Bar (restored) by Geek in training. it restores addon bar like it was in version 27 of Firefox
Edit. Presumably this one ~J99

It's kind of ironic as one notes in this thread that in Mozilla's 'infinite wisdom' they eliminated the add-on bar which allowed you to customize Firefox to give you a more "customizable" Firefox that does NOT have an add-on bar and you now have to get an add-on to add the add-on bar. I guess in some distorted logic that is more customizable?
I added this one as all it does is add the add-on bar only and waa-laa everything I had on the old add-on bar instantly appeared again. Woo hoo!

The addons designed for Firefox 29 are likely to make use of the fact that icons may be placed in several spaces, the tabs bar, navigation / bookmarks bar, and the new menu under the newbutton.
Or as you say use an addon that gives extra spaces and use that.
