So, I don't think FF29 has had the warm welcome that the designers had probably hoped for. My question to you clever-clogs is how can I make FF29 look like the following image, using only the default customisation options and the two addons: Personal Titlebar and Stylish. I got FF28 exactly how I wanted it using only these 3 things, so to me it stands to reason that I should be able to get FF29 how I want it using only these three things.

So, this is how I want it (I've reverted back to FF28 for the time being, as FF29 in its current form is unusable for me). http://i.imgur.com/grq1ERr.png

I have the Firefox menu button where I want it. I have my forward/back buttons, bookmark menu (with a stylish script to remove the text), address bar, home button, and search box all in the titlebar courtesy of PersonalTitlebar. Then I have my nice, rectangular, not-wasting a crap tonne of space, tabs UNDERNEATH. That's all I have for my UI, it's all I want. I don't think it's much to ask for.

Get me it on FF29 and I'll be a content man. Otherwise I'll be sticking with FF28 or I'll have to give Palemoon/Waterfox/whoever a go. Obviously Chrome and Opera are out as they don't let you do **** for customisation.

Oh, to the people who might go "oh ok... stick with FF28 if you're happy being super unsafe... better make sure you back up your datas!". Give me a break.

Cheers very much. <3

Hi,

This addon is should do much or all you want: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

In the addon options you can make tabs square. There is also a checkbox to "hide url bar reload button".

The picture you added was helpful. Maybe you can add another picture to show how you went with FF29 and what is still missing.

Hi, cheers for the response, unfortunately I did try that addon and couldn't get it how I wanted it. I got the square tabs and got them below the address bar, however obviously I could not split the address bar as it is now locked down for some reason (customisation? yeah sure we love that! oh... except these things... these things are locked...). I HATE the combined bar. I want to search for what I want to search for and I want to go straight to URLs. I do not want the combined bar to decide which it should do for me.

I also couldn't get anything merged with the title bar as it seemed the function of the title and menu bars had changed, so I had at least 1 extra useless bar on my screen.

I had an issue where the orange FF button in the top left was unclickable and overlapped other things, making them too unclickable. I then couldn't get my bookmarks anywhere useful (and what's up with the stupid new bookmarking system? You save a bookmark, and then have to go find it and move it to a folder? Yeah I'd much rather save it in a folder AS I create it... thanks.)

My other point is that I should not have to install a "classic theme restorer" addon to make FF29 look not-awful. If FF is so customisable, why can't IT do what I want without another extra addon? It used to be able to! The fact that someone had to make an addon like this within days of FF29's release to get it back to FF28 and that SO many people have downloaded the addon (not to mention... https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/?date_start=2014-04-25&date_end=2014-05-11&product=Firefox&version=29.0.0 No prizes for guessing when FF29 was released based on that data!) should speak volumes to Mozilla's design team (namely... you done ****ed up).

I've got nothing better to do this afternoon, so I'll give customising 29 another bash (despite my displeasure at having to install ClassicThemeRestorer) and report back with how far I manage to get.

I truly hope that I don't run into any of the myriad of technical issues that have been reported re:FF29, I fear it would be the nail in the coffin for me and FF29.
