How can I stop account folders staying highlighted when a message filter has (re)moved a message from that folder?

Hi,

My account folders for different POP boxes are subject to a number of filters which move or remove certain messages. Unfortunately, after the message is moved the account folder remains highlighted (bold & blue) to say "unread" when there are now no new messages in that folder. Is there a way to stop that, or tell message filters to mark the folder as read - or could this be considered a bug/undesirable behaviour?

Many Thanks,

Drew

I also have this problem. In addition, at the same time this behavior started, all of my Gmail IMAP accounts started staying highlighted after deleting or viewing messages in the Inbox. (I have four e-mail accounts that use Gmail.) The same messages remain in Gmail>All Mail and Gmail>Important even after they are deleted from the Inbox, and I can't make the highlighting go away until I open these other two folders.

This behavior appears to have been introduced in an update about six months ago.
