I leave firefox open and my computer goes to sleep. After waking firefox hangs and is unresponsive to clicks and keyboard strokes for at least 30 seconds. I have checked CPU usage and removed all profiles as well as reinstalled firefox. I have also opened in safemode. Still does not fix. It has been going on for a couple weeks now. Is there some hidden files that are causing this or is my Mac causing this.

I run OS X 10.9.4 Processor 2.3 GHx Intel Core i7 Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 with firefox 30

Please anyone with insight would be helpful.

Before you leave the computer for a time, try this;

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Then let it go for a while. After restart.

Does it help if you boot the computer in Safe Mode?

I checked I have zero virus'. I went into safe mode and tried firefox after sleep. Still the same problem. I verified my disk and permissions. Still the same problem.

Thanks everyone for your help. I will keep trying things. Last resort is a complete erase of the system.

Question, why do you want Firefox to stay active? This could be a factor.
