UPDATE FireFox for Android doesn't work & support page info is bogus
Samsung SII Galaxy -Android 1) Go to firefox.com page to update to most recent version, because auto update has Never worked on Firefox Android; either for add-ons or browser.
2) Want to update without loosing my settings, add-ons, etc.
3) Go to Mobile manual update page
4) Manual update page directs to FireFox button top of page
5) Directs to go to 'Help'
-Which Does NOT Exist - Only This is Mozzilla info without any Help or
6) Despite erroneous info that auto update 'will start immediately'
-that action does NOT occur
7) Why doesn't Mozilla check that their stuff actually works and support info is correct & Across ALL Available Platforms
8) Firefox is already the Slowest browser and uses vast amounts of memory. Yet Mozilla still can't get something as Simple as automatic update correct, WHY?

Are those instructions for Android???
The preferred method of installing Firefox on Android is through the Play store. This integrates with Android's update checker. You can use the My Apps section of the Play app to check for updates.
Edit: If you prefer to bypass the Play store, you need to update manually by sideloading the newest release. You can use this site: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest/android/ to get the APK.

Firefox from support does Not offer an Android specific support info
Google Shop does Not register that my version of FireFox for Android mobile is out of date.
However, Firefox.com Does indicate that I am using 'an older version of Firefox' at top of the webpage in Tan.
Have appreciated Mozilla/Firefox for years. But the mobile version for Android has Never worked anywhere near as well as desktop version.
Both Samsung & even Chrome (yuck) are leaps and bounds ahead of FireFox for Android in speed and more. The firefox routinely crashes, is incredibly slow and I now doubt its vaulted 'security'. Guess I should give up and use COMODO browser. Thanks
Sorry, but the link you supplied is dead. Since it also runs off the page, it seems impossible to cut/paste to my mobile browser. Thanks for trying.
Hmm, link? Maybe the email notification sent by the forum has a link, but I wasn't giving you a link.
To check your current version of Firefox for Android, you can use:
menu > Settings > Mozilla > About Firefox
The current version is Firefox 31. If the Mozilla site doesn't think you have that version, perhaps your user agent is being modified by a setting or add-on. You could use this page to see how Firefox is identifying itself: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php
Anyway, if Firefox doesn't work well on your current device, then it might not be worth the struggle. It wasn't until I got a new phone early this year, which had much more memory, that it became practical for me to use. (On the old device, every time I came back to the app it had to reload the page.)
Identified Firefox browser for Android is version 26. Google Play Store has never ( direct ftom Google Play app) Ever identified the Firefox version for update.
Nor has Android Firefox update worked.
I have awsome memory on my device with a Extra 32 gigs on my card. No problem with Any other browsers-just Firefox. Every other app on my device work fast/great!
Wonder how many Android users try Firefox mobile app and just give up an uninstall? ?
Try reinstalling from the Play store if you can. Otherwise, you might have to uninstall/reinstall. That probably would flush all your local Firefox data.
Hi Professor Rath:
I am locking this question because it's been 3 weeks with no reply from you. If you still can't install firefox please open a new question with the exact variant of Samsung SII you are using. I have 2 Samsung Galaxy S IIs and they have no issues so perhaps it's a SII issue with your paricular flavour or "variant" of the SII (north american & chinese variants of various samsung models have caused problems with Firefox in the past while the more popular Samsung variants from Europe have no issues)
Cheers!
