Having the downloads now report to a library does nothing for me except create another junk area on my computer and make it more difficult to get to my downloads. Yes, I can just click on downloads and then click on the open folder icon but that does not clear out the history in the library.

Hi

I have had a look into this and you may want to try out Download Cleaner. This is a Firefox addon that will automatically clear the download history.

I hope you find this useful, but if not please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

Needing a third party solution does not really address the problem. But I will look into it. Using an app to modify a basic component of a program means that every new version of the program could potentially cause the app to fail. Libraries can be ignored in Windows but Firefox's download library just keeps adding to the list and doesn't remove items even if they are deleted or moved. Also as there is always a download directory specified, what function does a library offer here?

Firefox seems to be moving away from functionality for PC users.
