Please clarify how sync works - I can't find a clear explanation anywhere! Are settings being overwritten? I think I lost some bookmarks during a sync?

I have 3 firefox copies. I want all 3 to maintain same settings, bookmarks, etc. When I open my browser in device A, and it starts to "sync", is it uploading my current settings to a server, or is it downloading settings from a server??

If I add bookmarks to firefox in device A, & then I add bookmarks, and change some add-ons to firefox in device B, will all the bookmarks and add-ons integrate? Or is the server overwriting previous information from Device A?

My browser is not automatically logged in every time I open it. Is this why I may have lost a bookmark or two during the last sync that I did? There's an error message that tells me to re-connect to sync, & I don't always do it immediately.

Is the problem that my password is not getting saved. I do not want Firefox to save passwords for sites.

Hi alyab987, All of the settings are merging on the server then distributing the merged version to each of the Firefox installations attached to your sync account.

All of them will merge. It will only merge the settings that are selected to sync.

Sometimes the account will become disconnected. It is possible to test this by toggling whether or not Firefox saves passwords. I do not know what has caused your computer to disconnect.

In order to disable passwords syncing in your account, click on any Firefox menu, then the Sync account name. Just make sure that "passwords" is unchecked.

I hope this helps.
