Firefox is opening AND downloading pdfs when I only want to view them. I am using Adobe Reader and that is my defult in preferences. Help!

I have followed all the steps that I could find and still no answer.

When I go to open/edit a pdf in firefox, it opens the file AND downloads it. I have to use some form of adobe viewer so that I can edit the files and save them. But I dont want to have to download every file that I open.
