I was trying to eliminate some other map searches and put google maps as default, instead I accidentally deleted google maps and now cannot find how to re-install google maps in my Firefox browser, and set it as default.

Hi, Were you trying to restore a bookmark or addon? If you were trying to restore an addon, just go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ and search for google maps.

Not really. When I type in a search for map directions (for ex. Los Angeles to Palm Springs) the only maps are Bing and Yahoo. Google used to appear, but no longer does.

If you were using the Search Bar then there is the search engines like those at http://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?name=Google+maps

If you were using a Extension then https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=google+maps&appver=any&platform=all

I accidentally deleted Google from my searches in the search bar in Mozilla. How can I reinstate it? I was trying to delete Bing that kept coming up.

You can check the Search tab in about:preferences#search to check what search engine are installed. If you removed a built-in search engine then click the Restore button.

You can delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default built-in search engines that come with Firefox and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

Technically speaking, you can't "remove" the Google search engine that comes with Firefox (built-in), all you can do is to un-check one of the built-in search engines so that it doesn't 'show' in the interface.
