Missing Trash folder for one of my accounts

A few of my email accounts are on Bluehost servers, all on IMAP. All work normally except the most important one (of course right?). This one never got a Trash folder at setup, even though inside Account Settings it's the only one that specifies sending deleted message to a trash folder in the account. When I accidentally delete an email, it's gone into space. I checked the server just now. It has a Trash folder but empty. I checked my other email accounts, they have the same Trash folder loaded with emails just like in Thunderbird. When I deleted a test email on webmail, it went into Trash. How do I make Thunderbird recognize/add the missing Trash folder? Thanks.

I'd suggest the following:

Create a full backup of your Thunderbird profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile

Delete the IMAP account KeiKay@SuperIntelligenceWellness.com. With IMAP all mail is on the server, so you won't lose anything.

Close Thunderbird.

As per your screenshot at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1129064#answer-894585 there is a folder 'Trash' underneath 'Inbox'. Delete that Trash folder via webmail.

Re-create the account KeiKay@SuperIntelligenceWellness.com.

Are you subscribed to Trash for that particular account?

more options

Yes unfortunately, it says subscribed to Trash already. Although I'm not sure what subscribe really means. Thanks for answering. Any other ideas?

Is this another clue of the problem? When I open subscribe dialog box, the other accounts have straightforward INBOX, subcategory a few items. This problematic account has INBOX, subcategory: Archives, Drafts, INBOX, Junk, Sent, Trash. Why 2 inbox? See image attached

What's inside the innermost Inbox?

more options

Nothing. It's an empty folder.

When you login to your account via webmail, how does the folder tree look like? Please post another screenshot.

I think you're on to something...

Here are two webmail screenshots for comparison. The not working one has an extra Trash folder as a subset right below it that doesn't do anything. The real one should be the one lower down (screenshot), it has the test delete from the Bluehost tech support person. But this real one doesn't communicate with Thunderbird!

What do I do?

I suppose that's the left screenshot? Does this correspond to your earlier Thunderbird screenshot? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1129064#answer-893500

What's the point with the right screenshot? It looks like a different account.

Yes, you interpreted correctly. I'm sorry the labels of the screenshots didn't show up.

The left screenshot is the problematic webmail Trash screen in Bluehost. Same account as the earlier Subscribe screenshot.

The right screenshot is another account in Bluehost that communicates perfectly with Thunderbird. I showed it just for comparison. In case it helps.

I just realized your earlier screenshot was the Subscribe dialog. Can you post another screenshot of the folder pane for the troubled account?

Here are my Thunderbird left pane screenshots, long one. Left image below is top, 4th image at right below is bottom.

Thanks

THANK YOU SO MUCH christ1!!

I was nervous deleting the account but I did it and the Trash account appeared!!! WooHoo!!!!

I notice that the Archive folder is gone though. Gain one lost one. Oh well. Archive is less important to me than Trash.

In case you haven't had enough of this crazy mystery, I have screenshots below to compare. First image is the new Thunderbird side panel Archive section, compared with the old screenshot before (2nd in set of 4 above). The second image is the Bluehost webmail new side panel with archive folder -- note no extra Trash folder :)

If you're going to tell me to again delete and reload, I will not do it!!!  :-D
