Getting 'non secure site' msg google etc. reinstall a-virus. Still no working! Latest Firefox for Windows - all since update!
I'm using Windows 7 with the latest version of Firefox (can't find the version in my program files - why isn't it as easy as a mac??!!) Anyhow, since installing all i get are "Your connection is not secure" and it won't let me navigate to the site: sites so far include google and amazon!
I've updated all virus software, run 2 x virus scans, numerous restarts and have now had enough. I'm about to go to Chrome for good, but have spent years with firefox and can't believe it's come to this.
Please help!

please check in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > network > connection - settings... that firefox is set up to directly connect to the internet ('no proxy').

hi Ruthie66, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a solution depends on the individual circumstances:
- what is the error code shown when you click on advanced on that error page?
- please also give us more information about the error by clicking on the error code, copying the text to the clipboard and then pasting it here into a reply in the forum.
thank you!
I'm getting this error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER
then get this (below)
I've followed all the steps on the help site for repeated happenings of this (which I now get), and it's still happening and I'm out of pocket for getting more virus software, ug.

I'll send the google one separately if helps?
thanks, so this appears to be caused by wajam malware on your device intercepting encrypted connections.
please run a scan with various other free security tools like the trial version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & eset online one-time scanner!
I've tried what you've suggested with Adwcleaner (16 threats), deletions, restarts..... and now get this on everything. (including when loading this site so had to go back to cached page to type this!)
"The proxy server is refusing connections"

OK, I've turned off the proxy server settings and things are now looking like they're working! Macafee total waste of money then!?!!
Thanks TONS for your help!
sure, you're welcome. imho using the free microsoft security essentials security software and maybe running a manual scan with malwarebytes anti-malware (as a second opinion) every now and then is totally sufficient and you don't need to spend money on antivirus products...
