Two windows open, each with multiple tabs. One window works, the other doesn't.

I have a recurring problem:

• I have two windows open, each with several tabs. • The tabs in one window are working fine. • In the other window the tabs don't function. Can't switch tabs, can't close them. Whateve page I'm stuck on functions fine , links working etc., but the tabs won't function—can't navigate at all!

Do you have a some issue with limited RAM size?

No, and this isn’t a problem I have with all browsers, or with all Firefox multi-tab windows. I first observed it a couple of weeks ago, when I switched from Chrome to Firefox as my default browser, and it now happens with one of the 2-4 browser windows I have open during just about every session. All I can do is quit, then restore previous session. Then the problem window works. But it’s a little crazy that have to do that every session.

Best is in such a case to open a new window and see if you can tear of tabs to that window and close the window that isn't working properly. A possible cause is that you opened some pop-up window that disabled some window features.

There are dom.disable_window prefs available on the about:config page that you can set to true to prevent a website from disabling specific features.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
