2 folders under Profiles (but if I remove the second one Firefox still opens just fine).
If you type or paste about:profiles in Firefox's address bar and press Return to load it, Firefox should show all the profile folders it is aware of which may be fewer than you can see in Finder.
If the other profile is listed here, please click its "Set as default profile" button, then in the upper right corner click the "Restart normally" button.
Thanks but that didn't work. It said the Profile was missing, and it wouldn't open Firefox. I had to use the mac Terminal App set it back to the most recent Profile so I could open Firefox again.
Okay, so your about:profiles page listed a profile that does not have a corresponding folder. That's strange. What are the actual folders in the Profiles folder, other than the new one that doesn't have your bookmarks?
Success at last! I dragged and dropped the old profiles into the Profile folder so it could recognize it, and then hit Restart Normally and it worked. Finally! Thanks a lot for your help. Much appreciated.
Oh, but wouldn't you know. The refresh icon (the original problem that started this whole mess) is missing again : /
Are you using an old profile or a recently created fresh profile folder?
Did you try to click Restore Defaults on the Customize palette page?
Can you attach a screenshot that shows the Navigation Toolbar?

Ah, thanks much.
