Sound on video sites (Netflix/YouTube) plays slightly slower than video, & often comes out crackly; speed catches up by pausing media playback; help!

Hello! When I play video (netflix, youtube, other streaming services), I get a lag between sound & video. Additionally, the audio itself is usually crackly, even if I download mp3 versions of audfiobooks from YouTube, which often have garbled parts. Pressing the "pause" button for videos allows the sound & vid to resynch, but doesn't really affect the crackly/garbling problem. I am not savvy to computer fixing, but I'm not an imbecile, either. Thank you.
