How to RESTORE bookmarks on FF for iOS?

I have just had to restore my (numerous and carefully curated) bookmarks from an auto backup on my PC (Running FF Quantum 68.0 (64-bit)). (Because; Suddenly yesterday afternoon they were all scrambled and the JSON file went from my usual 460Kb to 1,440Kb with thousands of apparently random bookmarks). So, having first turned off Sync on the iPad, I fixed the bookmarks on the PC but now how do I fix them on the iPad? I don't want to sync the rubbish version that is still on the iPad with the fixed file version because it's, well, sync & not restore so I will end up with a good file synced with all the rubbish. I need to delete the rubbish on the Pad, or restore from the same backup file but I can't see how to achieve that.

That's really helpful, thank you. Anyone else have any suggestions please?

Currently there's no manual import or export option on Firefox for iOS. If you need to transfer a lot of bookmarks, your Firefox account is the only way to sync them.

  • Prior, turning on again FF Sync, wipe all bookmarks on the iPad
  • Double check your bookmarks on your PC.
  • Export your Firefox bookmars as backup HTML File.
  • Finally, sign in to your Firefox account on your iPad

Thank you; that genuinely IS helpful! Just to clarify one part, when you say " wipe all bookmarks on the iPad" you mean that I have to manually delete them, possibly individually? Many thanks again.

That is correct. So far I don't see any option to wipe all boomarks at once. Yes, Unfortunately you have to manually delete them. You can try to move all boomarks and subfolders to one folder, than delete the main folder.

The important part: Consolidate all bookmarks on one device, first. I guess it's your PC.
