Thunderbird as default mail client for MS office Mac

more options

Hi Folks, I've recently switched to TB 68 2.2 (64 bit) on OSX 10.14.6 (Mojave) from the in-built Apple Mail App. When using MS Office I receive a message "no supported mail client" although TB is the default mail client as per the Mail App preferences. Similarly, I'm unable to add TB to the share menu in applications like Preview. Can you help, please?

I don't think you can make Office, or any other OS X app, send email through TB, because OS X doesn't support MAPI.

The Share function also works only with the Apple Mail app, probably for the same reasons. Even with W10, Share only works with the W10 Mail app, although W10 supports MAPI, and you can send files from Office to TB.

Thanks, sfhowes.

MAPI = Microsoft Altogether Propitiatory Interface as I remembered it being named when it first came out.

File attachments it is then! Cheers Jim
