Audio stops after buffering

more options

Once a video stops to buffer then resumes, the firefox window that has the video stops outputting audio. Opening new firefox windows / other currently open firefox windows will play audio, but the current window, even if a new tab is opened, will not play audio. Other programs (e.g. spotify) and browsers (chrome) do not seem to have this issue.

In the windows 10 audio mixer it can be seen that firefox isn't outputting any sound, if that wasn't clear from the fact that other programs and windows are able to play audio.

I've recorded a video of this issue. In the video, in addition to the audio cutting out after the buffer, you can see that the windows audio mixer shows no output from firefox, but the audio works when I open a new window.

I have tried disabling extensions and using private mode, but after a buffer this issue still persists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4rQScifJDQ

Turning off extensions and using private windows doesn't seem to help, still causing the audio to cut out after.
