Hello,

For some reason I can not load my e-mails in mail folders any more. Please check the image from attachment. In one moment in the past I just copied the content of the Thunderbird folder as a backup. Now, when replace the current content by the backup files, Thunderbird opens all backup e-mails correctly. It seems that somehow current files in the path C:\Users\38164\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ir635php.default-release\Mail are corrupted? To make matters worse, I use POP3. Is there any way to recover my e-mails?

Best regards,

Nenad Mitic

Is it possible the account is not looking at the correct location?

Right click on mail account name folder in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' Select 'Server Settings' Bottom right you will see 'Message Storage' area. 'Local directory:' - the text should be pointing the name of the mail account. You should see something like this:

It might be missing the pop account name so only says: example:

  • C:\Users\38164\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ir635php.default-release\Mail

Click on 'Browse' It will open showing the contents of the current selected account location. If it was pointing to the 'Mail' folder, select the name of the mail account name folder and click on 'Select Folder'

Repeat for other accounts.

Restart Thunderbird.

Sorry....just realised that you have already fixed the issue with a backup. But did you backup/create a copy of the one being used (the problem account as per image) before you replaced it with the backup?

You say: "In one moment in the past I just copied the content of the Thunderbird folder as a backup. Now, when replace the current content by the backup files, Thunderbird opens all backup e-mails correctly."

Please note: if you have completely overwritten your profile name folder with an old backup, then you wiped out all your data.

Menu app icon > Help > More TRoubleshooting Information in Application Basics - Profile Folders - click on 'Open Folder' A new window opens showing contents of profile name folder click on 'Mail' folder Is it possible the names were doubled up and some were given same name with a number? Post an image showing contents of 'Mail' folder.

If you did backup the original problem 'Thunderbird' before replacing with backup, then locate the 'Mail' folder and select the mail account name folders - select a view showing details and post image showing contents.

Hi,

Yes, I did backup of the original problem before replacing with the old backup.

About your first comments, related to Local directory path, please find in the attachment the screen shoots of the Server Settings for all accounts. The first account nenad.mitic@magicup-solutions.com uses Server Name: cpanel25.beotel.net and it differs for some reason compering to other accounts?

Yes, there is a strange case related to mnprocessing accounts, there are doubled folders with the same name and with numbers. Please check the screenshots of the Mail folder.

Thank you for the support!

Initially you mentioned: C:\Users\38164\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ir635php.default-release\

But image is in a different computer user account although it has same 'profile name' folder. C:\Users\Nedad Mitic\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ir635php.default-release\

Do you have two different user accounts on computer running identical profiles ?

regarding account using server name : cpanel25.beotel.net This does not sound correct. See info: https://www.beotel.net/hosting/mail2 genuine e-mail addresses in the form of username@domainname (.co.rs, .com, .net, .org.yu etc)) pop3 and smtp addresses in the form of: pop3.domainname, smtp.domainname and mail.domainname

I would expect you to be using server name 'mail.domainname' eg: mail.magicup-solutions.com Before you alter anything we need to check out which mail account folder name it should be using.

So first - what is actually in the 'mail.magicup-solutions.com' folder ? Do you have any files in the 'mail.magicup-solutions.com' folder located here:

Please post an image showing contents of 'mail.magicup-solutions.com' folder. If you see a file called 'Inbox' with no extension - open it using 'Notepad' or 'Notepad++' or similar Text Editor. It should have emails - oldest at the top - it should help you to located the email address in a 'TO' field. This will tell you which account should be using that mail account name. Is it the one for your name or the office one?

In Thunderbird Account Settings > 'Server Settings' where Server name = mail.magicup-solutions.com

  • Click on 'Advanced' button
  • Select 'Inbox for this account'
  • click on OK

Do this for all of the accounts - please confirm they were all set up to use 'Inbox for this account' Was that option already selected ?

If no: Select 'Copies & Folders' Set the account to use 'Sent', drafts, etc to use that account name/email address. They should not be using 'Local Folders' or a folder belonging to another account.

re :Thunderbird opens all backup e-mails correctly. So we need to compare - what is in the backup for same account : 'mail.magicup-solutions.com' folder? open the 'Inbox' no extension file and find out what email address 'TO' used that account name folder. Your name email address or the office ?
