For work, I use Outlook on my Windows computer and on my Android device which makes synchronizing Contacts and Calendars pretty transparent. Is there a way to achieve this same level of integration between Thunderbird (whether it be on Windows or Linux) and my Android device?

If your Android syncs Google calendars and Contacts, it's just a matter of adding the calendars as CalDAV calendars (File/New/Calendar... On the Network... enter gmail address...) and adding the Contacts as CardDAV address books (in Address Book, New Address Book, Add CardDAV Address Book, enter gmail address...).

Other providers are supported either through the built-in method as above or with add-ons, e.g. for outlook.com.
