The 5 shortcuts I had on my FF home page below the google search box all disappeared and I am unable to re add them as FF will not let me. I have reinstalled FF and refreshed it but it did no good. unable to take a screenshot as it will not show up when I right click as it used to.

Are you able to customize shortcuts on the new tab page if you refresh your profile and stay signed out of your sync account?
