This version of Firefox does not offer to "save settings"; a major error. The advice to alter file name is not tenable. That file is not possible to alter having reached it through Firefox when open.

I closed Firefox and hunted through every Firefox file and could not find it. Catch 22; won`t accept change when Firefox open and not there when Firefox close. This is an error you should be able to download an update for. "New" isn`t always better.

Are talking about saving tabs or do you mean settings Firefox (Tools) > Options ?

For the latter, see:

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.

You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session. There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.

Another possibility is to use:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
