After Ubuntu Linux software update, Firefox needs to restart, but stops and doesn't restart

more options

I run Ubuntu Linux (currently version 11.10), and ever so often it provides updates for various programs, including the Firefox browser (now version 9). After the update is completed, my running browser indicates that it needs to be restarted, and I click OK. But it never restarts, it only dies, and then I have to restart it manually. After I do this, my old session is restored, so this is not a big problem. It's just annoying that it says "restart" and then fails to do so.

Try the Ubuntu for forums for that issue - http://ubuntuforums.org/ .

Canonical Ltd. supplies their own versions of Firefox, and creates their own update packages, they are using a slightly different package than what Mozilla creates for Linux installations.
