Do the script errors pop-up or are you reading Firefox's Error Console?

In case the crashes are related to the latest Flash update, please see this article: Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again.

They keep popping up.

Could you report what the errors say? For example, sometimes you will get a dialog that a script is taking a long time and asking whether you want to stop it or let it continue running. Is it that one?

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Yes it asks if I want to stop or continue. They seem to be ad scripts, apis.google scripts, etc. I would run FF but it freezes everything up. Right now I'm using IE9.

Anyone? This is driving me nuts and I really do not want to switch over to Chrome, but if I have to I will... thanks.

Could you try reinstalling Firefox over your current installation?

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

You can download the installer from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/ (green button)

Would that be the same as uninstalling FF and reinstalling it? If so, I did that last night and it made no difference. Still continues to freeze up on sites, and I get the pop up box saying that a script is taking too long, would I like to continue or stop the script. The scripts seem to be advertising scripts, and I noticed apis.google was also showing up.

Do you have any external filters that might be affecting Firefox's ability to retrieve and run scripts? For example, some security software may filter scripts, or may ads, or may try to remove elements believed to be "web bugs". Some people install hosts files which redirect advertising links back to their PCs so the ads can't be retrieved.

By the way, any problems with Flash? For example, does Flash work correctly on Adobe's test page: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Flash works fine. I have comodo and teatimer, but never had issues until recently with mozilla - have had these programs for much longer.

Also, I have no problems at all in IE9, just FF. So I think it is something other than firewalls, etc.

My 13.0.1 crashes every time I leave Bank of America website, I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Get attached script error. The "crash report" feature does not capture the crash. see pic

Hi Geofs, that looks like a different issue. Would you mind starting a new question with your system information.

After entering your question and clicking the green "Ask this" button, the site will make more suggestions. Scroll down and click the blue "None of these solve my problem" button in order to create your question.

Rolled back to FF 12 and it works fine now...

Spoke too soon, it still freezes up on scripts. Looks like it may have something to do with FF and Java or Adobe or something else. These are the only programs I have updated as of late. Looks like I'm going to Chrome, or IE9...

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

I don't see how flash is the issue. Its crashing when scripts are loading. Flash works fine.

Can this be forwarded to the Mozilla bug team, or some other technical support? None of these suggestions are doing anything to alleviate the issue.

Hi tuatha, you can file a new bug, but I don't think there is enough information to relate your problem to a specific cause. As you can imagine, most people are not tormented by script errors. We're trying to track it down to something about your system or your customization of Firefox.

Could you try creating a blank new Firefox settings folder (AKA a Firefox profile)? In addition to bypassing current add-ons and custom settings, it should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.

Close Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager by entering the following in the Search box on the Start menu and pressing Enter:

firefox.exe -p

Your currently active profile is selected. Don't delete anything, just create a new profile and start Firefox in that new profile. Any time you want to switch profiles, close Firefox and return to this dialog. More information on the Profile Manager: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles.

Do the errors persist in the new profile?

Can you walk me through the steps for what you suggested? I'm not sure how to create a new profile... thanks.
